Biography
Visual artist, painter, photographer, author of videos. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk (1992-1995), the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1995-1997, diploma in Prof. Stefan Gierowski's Studio) and Tokyo University of the Arts (1998-2001, Japanese government scholarship). As part of the "platform_c" project, she organized a summer academy and symposium in Cappadocia, Turkey (2000). Within the framework of artists-in-residence programs, she was hosted in Mont Escalioso, Italy (Oreste 2000), at the scientific institute of Collegium Helveticum in Zurich, Switzerland (2004), at Kunstlerhaus Buchsenhausen, Insbruk, Austria (2005). Her works are in the collection of Saatchi Gallery, London. The artist's solo exhibitions have been held in Rome, Berlin, London and Basel, among others. Brezanska creates multimedia exhibitions, combining drawing, photography, video and music. She is interested in media reality and its influence on perception; in her works she shows what we usually pay attention to and recontextualizes found photos and frames from television. She lives and works in Warsaw and Berlin.
