Agata Knapik, Explosive Boy, 2022

Born in 1994, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice at the Faculty of Graphic Arts in the studio of Prof. Bogna Otto-Węgrzyn, PhD. She is primarily passionate about widely understood forms of artist's book, self-publishing and painting. She is interested in issues related to pop culture, the aftermath of which is perfectly visible in her painting work. Knapik has developed a unique style of artistic expression, in which she talks about serious subjects in a frivolous way - sarcasm and irony are integral elements of her work. She works primarily in comics and painting. Working within both of these media, she analyzes the phenomena that bother her, spinning fantastic stories around them. In doing so, she creates a peculiar universe full of characters combining both painfully mundane and demonic qualities. In search of inspiration, she scours the deepest recesses of the Internet. For her thesis, she received the Award of the President of the City of Gdansk in the competition Best Diplomas of the Academy of Fine Arts for the year 2022 and was included in the list of FNC Diplomas of the portal "FONT not font!". She was a finalist in the Young Wolves 19 competitions, the Loostro 16th Autumn Art Salon, the 31st National Youth Painting Review Promotions 2023 and the 6th National Leon Wyczółkowski Painting Competition in Bydgoszcz.
