Spray, hand-cut stencil/ Canvas 40 x 30 cm
Exactly 36 years ago in 1987, the icon of the Polish freedom movement "Lenin with a red Iroquois" was created, its author is Dariusz Paczkowski, 16 years old at the time, not realizing that he was creating something that would be copied by hundreds of artists on thousands of walls for many years to come.
By the mid-1980s he was everywhere and quickly became an icon of the "young angry." He was seen on the jackets of punks, on the walls of blocks of flats across Poland and on the album covers of the bands involved.
"Times have changed but the dreams remain - life in freedom, a world without wars where people are equal, human rights respected and making sure there is enough clean air and water for future generations."
His works have been featured in permanent exhibitions: The European Solidarity Center in Gdansk, the Zajezdnia History Center in Wroclaw, the Granary of Polish Rock in Jarocin, the Museum of Dialogue of Cultures in Kielce, and have also been presented at the Museum of Modern Art during the "New National Art" exhibition, among others. He is the author of numerous magazine, book and phonograph covers.
