Yann Kempen (Valenciennes, 1963) French artist born in 1963, trained at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Valenciennes. Empen's artistic production ranges from works that carry childhood memories to the creation of paintings depicting famous brands such as Michelin, La Vache qui Rit or Banania, using the logos of his time. He also experiments with and depicts the myth of superheroes such as the Hulk, Superman, Shadow and Wonderwoman, using square canvases where characters are not always depicted from head to toe and corners are purposely enlarged to create the "bubble" effect of cartoons and comic books. After a trip to Japan he became interested in manga culture, which led him to portray women based on this style. These works are deliberately worn in the background, to recall the poor quality paper of the original works that made manga so successful. In addition, the artist likes to manipulate matter to give greater vitality to her portraits, which are made with glossy acrylics. Since 1992 he has exhibited in Paris, Tours, St. Etienne, England and Verona. Estimate € 2,000 - 3,000
