Reference: Kopicki (-); Haczewska-Paszkiewicz 14

One of the most beautiful Piast brakteats, characterized by excellent, mature sculptural craftsmanship.
The dragon depicted on the coin interpreted by Witold Garbaczewski as a reference to the legend of the Wawel Dragon, contained in the chronicles of Wincenty Kadlubek, but also as a symbol of the ruler's power.
Kraków (or Sandomierz) issue from 1230-40, before the Mongol invasion of 1241.

Mint uncirculated piece, with strong luster and charming fine patina.
One of the best-preserved on the market, struck on a wide, magnificent disc. Delicate clearance behind the head.
For the best collections - definitely recommended, INCREDIBLE NUMIZMAT.

obverse: dragon with head facing right, with outspread wings
