Denomination introduced by the reform of January 11, 1924. The coin was minted on the basis of a decree of the Minister of Finance dated December 10, 1936. According to the ordinance of the President of the Republic of Poland of August 27, 1932, the coins could be used to pay obligations up to a maximum of 100 zlotys. The coin remained in circulation until November 1939.
Coin minted in Warsaw in 1936 in an edition of 1,000,000 pieces to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the construction of the Port of Gdynia.
Obverse: crowned eagle, in the rim the legend: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA 1936
Reverse: view of a ship at sea, below inscription 5 ZŁOTYCH 5, designer's initials J-A. Above the waves, on the right the Kościesza coat of arms - the mark of the State Mint in Warsaw.
