Sword of a superior officer, France, 1st half of the 19th century.

Sword length in scabbard 950 mm, spade length 913 mm, blade length 798 mm, blade width at base 21 mm, blade thickness at base 5 mm, spade weight 450 g, blade weight in scabbard 630 g.

Hand closed, brass frame, gilded, richly decorated. The yoke is straight, basket-shaped. The inner shield curled towards the head, the outer shield, decorated with panoplies, towards the head. The head in the form of a lion's head supporting a shell. Handle shaft covered with mother-of-pearl.
The hilt at the height of the hilt is double-edged, lenticular in cross-section, hexagonal below in cross-section.
P o c h w a s made of black leather, with two brass fittings. On the neck a catch hook, the viscera ended with a knob.
