Sabre for officers of Austrian infantry model 1861

Nickel-plated blade (abraded) with short dorsal edge and central point, double-edged. Etched inscription 'Robertine - 5/VIII - August' on the upper part of the blade, etched inscription in the wreath 'Ehre und Pflicht 18./8. 1897' on the ricasso with remnants of gilding. On the reverse side of the ricasso stamped 'K. u. K. Arsenal Probestempel Wn 97' and maker's mark 'EDUARD JUNG, NIEDERL WIEN, FABR OR PIESTING'. Wooden handle covered with locally damaged sharkskin and wrapped with silver partially twisted wire (wrapping defective). Scabbard missing. Austria, 1897, length 94,5 cm. Traces of corrosion on metal parts, remains of nickel plating.
