The patch of the American-led Polish Guard Companies, used in France and Occupied Germany in the period 1945-50.
The Guard Companies were composed of soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces in the West, liberated prisoners of war from the 1939 Campaign, and partisans and Home Army men, including the famous Swietokrzyska Brigade of the National Armed Forces.
The badge is made using a machine-made technique.
The emblem is in the form of a shield, trimmed all around with yellow thread, inside visible white and red vertical stripes covering three-quarters of the patch's surface, above a blue rectangle in which the word Polish was embroidered in the central part. The reverse is lined with a cloth white pad.
