Cuirassiers' helmet "à la Minerve," 1st half of the 19th century.

Made of iron bell, edged with black bearskin (?) trim. Iron canopy trimmed with brass sheet metal. A brass comb is mounted to the bell. On the front of the comb an embossed likeness of Minerva, under it a burning garnet, on top a red kite, mounted in a flattened carved sleeve. On the left side of the bell, a small sleeve into which was inserted a scarlet putty for the great uniform. The helmet fastened under the chin with a bolster of brass rings, fixed with decorative rosettes with a screw. No equipment inside.
