Pair of Flintlock Officers Pistols by Nicolas Noel Boutet

Octagonal barrel, slightly hollowed out in the middle, 16 mm calibre with (probably) original browning and very fine rifling, sliding reticle, fixed sight.Test marks on the right upper surface of both pistols, stamped maker's marks "BC" on the left upper surface and stamped maker's marks "BOUTET" on the upper surfaces of the barrels. The smooth locks are signed "BOUTET/A VERSAILLES" and have beautifully shaped components. French tensioners. Slim full stocks have finely herringbone roughened grips. O0steel fittings are finely chiselled and engraved. Wooden chargers with bone buttstocks. France, Versailles circa 1800, length of both pistols is 35 cm.
