Lot information
Model 1853/79 officer's cord used by the French military police and gendarmerie. The blade is straight, one-sided ground with a central point, made of steel with visible traces of corrosion and partially removed surface stains. There are three narrow grooves along the entire length of the blade, which reduce the weight of the weapon. The hilt is brass with a richly decorated handle and guard. The handle is decorated with a relief pattern with leaf motifs, ending with a distinctive bulbous head. The crossbar of the guard is curved on one side, transitioning into a simple arc-shaped basket that protects the user's hand. The scabbard is steel, with visible signs of age and corrosion.
