France, Tulle manufactory, 17th/19th century (model 1797).
Steel barrel, rocket lock, steel; walnut (?) short bed; steel tang sunk partially into the bed; barrel with bed girdled closer to the discharge with brass buckler. Brass trigger guard. Handle head hardware of bronze; punches of the manufactory on the hardware. On the outside of the bed embossed circular stamp with the letters "E. F." in the center; next to it embossed inscription: "FAVRE" and the letters "L" and "C" (monograms of inspectors of acceptance and quality of weapons).
Such weapons were used by Poles (Cheval Legers of the Guard) going to Moscow with Napoleon Bonaparte in 1812.
Gun in excellent condition, in working order.
