Additional patents are listed on the drum and on the left of the frame. Barrel and drum blue, bluing preserved approx 80%, staining. Groove in frame at top replacing visor. Serial numbers match except for the handle shanks, which are made of select walnut wood and numbered "285". United States, 1863, overall length 26 cm. Condition 2+

The octagonal rifled barrel with 80% plus bright original blue finish has a blade front sight and "C.R. ALSOP MIDDLETOWN, CONN./PATENTED JULY 17th. AUGUST 7th. 1860 MAY 14th. 1861" on the top of the barrel. The blued cylinder is marked "C.R. ALSOP PATENTED/NOV. 26TH 1861," and the left side plate has "PATENTED JANY. 21ST 1862." The top of the frame has a long groove for a rear sight. The matching serial number is located on the bottom of the barrel, front face of the cylinder, under the left grip and the butt., both grips panels numbered 285.
