Leszek Stanko (Sosnowiec 1924 - Katowice 2011) - son of landscape artist Michal Stanko. Like his father, he specialized in mountain landscapes - mainly of the Tatra or Beskid Mountains. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Wojciech Weiss, as well as Ignacy Pieńkowski and Fryderyk Pautsch (in 1945-1947). Initially, he worked at cartoon film studios - in Bielsk and Warsaw. Then he permanently returned to painting. In 1956 he became a member of the Warsaw art group "Zachęta", which was formed by artists who continued the tradition of 19th-century realism.
