Item bought in a souvenir store in Zdolbunov during the May (2023) humanitarian delegation. Original product. The graphic refers to an anecdote from the time of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. "Palyanytsia" in Ukrainian means "bread." It is a word difficult enough to pronounce correctly by non-Ukrainian speakers, so it is very easy to distinguish whether the person pronouncing it is Ukrainian or not. Usually, despite many attempts, foreigners fail to do so. Russians have repeatedly tried to prove that it is nothing difficult and that they can pronounce the word correctly, only ridiculing themselves, because instead of saying "Palyanytsia," they said "polynytsia",which means strawberry in Ukrainian. Public figures also took up the challenge, such as Russia's most famous propagandist Maria Zakharova, who ridiculed herself trying to say the word "Palyanytsia" correctly. Ukrainians have created a meme out of this situation and use this word to distinguish Russians from Ukrainians by making them pronounce the word "bread."
