Jan Kiepura (1902-1966) - opera singer (tenor) of international fame. His career gained momentum with a trip to Vienna in the second half of the 1920s. In later years he performed in theaters and opera houses of Chicago, Paris, London and Venice, among others. Thanks to funds earned on world stages, he built the legendary Willa "Patria" hotel in Krynica before the war. He spent the times of the Second World War overseas, returning to Europe after its end. In 1958 he returned to Poland where he also died.
