[AXENTOWICZ Teodor]. Collection of miscellaneous materials relating to Teodor Axentowicz, who died in August 1938.
The collection includes:
* catalog of a posthumous exhibition at TPSP in Cracow in XII 1938-II 1939.
* typescript letter from Jadwiga Axentowiczówna, Teodor's daughter, to Maria Jarosiewiczówna in Lvov, dated. 21 Jan 1939 in Kraków; envelope preserved
* handwritten letter from Jadwiga Axentowiczówna to Maria Jarosiewiczówna in Lvov, dated. 29 II 1939 in Kraków; letter accompanied by a commemorative picture after the death of Teodor Axentowicz, envelope preserved
* manuscript of M. Jarosiewiczówna's article "Tedor Axentowicz. Painter of refined society and rural people", on 4 cards form. A4, with an annotation in the author's handwriting: "The article, which was no longer printed because the war broke out and the Lviv Land Society ceased to exist".
* three photographs, one of which is a reproduction of a portrait of Armenian Bishop Isaac Mikhail Isakovich painted by T. Axentowicz, the other shows the artist in old age, wearing a hat, against a background of distant buildings. The third photo (which is probably a copy from a positive) shows a young man - perhaps this is the "maturational photograph" of Axentowicz mentioned in the first letter.
The above-mentioned letters were written on behalf of her mother (who knew little Polish) by her daughter Maria. The addressee, a Lviv teacher and journalist, while preparing an article about Axentowicz, asked for details about the painter's family and his biography. The first letter contains a brief history of the family from the first mentions in the 14th century to the present day, as well as remarks on her father's silent co-authorship of "Panorama Raclawicka," completed in 1894. In the second letter, the author writes, among other things, about her father's stays in Malopolska. All objects in good to very good condition.
