One-sided print of a fancy forgery of the 1547 Crown Thaler of Sigismund II Augustus from a stamp made by Majnert.
"Crown Thaler 1547: The stamps in Czapski's collection are cut carefully by Majnert's hand, but the pieces stamped with them bear all the hallmarks of fabrication. Despite this, Bandtkie believes them to be authentic, as does Count Raczynski, who included this thaler among the medals in his work. While creating it, Majnert made two historical mistakes. Crown coins were not minted during the reign of Sigismund Augustus. Moreover, on the reverse side he too thoughtlessly copied from the thaler No. 6, which was also invented.... "
Obverse: bust of the king to the right, with the date on the sides (15-47), dividing the crown with an ottoman:
SIGISMVNDVS*AVG*REX*POLON*M*D*LI*;
A faintly legible inscription is visible on the back of the print.
