Jozef Stasinski (1927-2019) - Polish visual artist, sculptor, prominent medalist, titular professor of art. Author of, among others: the monument to Cardinal August Hlond in the Archcathedral Basilica in Poznan - 1962, Monument to the Victims of Fascism in Chelmno nad Nerem (co-author with arch. Jerzy Buszkiewicz) - 1964, Christ Altar (Council Altar in the Archcathedral Basilica in Poznan) - 1966, monuments to John Paul II in Lviv - Brzuchowice - 2007, and monument to John Paul II in Olesno 2013. He is the author of almost 2000 medals. The most well-known are the series: on the Three Hundredth Anniversary of the Expiration of the Silesian Piasts 1675-1975, Poland Fighting on the Fronts of World War II 1939-1945, Pontifical Medals of John Paul II.
Decorated, among others, by Pope John Paul II with the Grand Knight's Cross of St. Sylvester with Star 2002, the Officer's Cross Polonia Restituta 2012, and the Golden Badge of the Warsaw Association of Sculptors, and on his 90th birthday with the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
