Reference: Hutten-Czapski 2336 (R4)

After his abdication on September 16, 1668, John Casimir went to Paris, where he was endowed with the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres.

The offered token was minted in France probably in connection with the arrival of the now former king.

The non-precious metal (bronze), the small size (25 mm in diameter), the low minting quality of the token, as well as the inscription on the revrs HOSPITIVM REGIBUS (Hug of Kings), highlight the muted circumstances of the reign of the last of the Vasa dynasty in Poland.

A rare and interesting souvenir.
