Great Britain. Anne (1702-1714). Electrotype medal 1708 (43 mm, 47.13 g), attempted invasion of Scotland. By M. Brunner.

Obv. ANNA · D : G : MAG : BR : FRA : ET · HIB : REGINA ·, laureate and draped bust to left, wearing necklace.
Rev. · INIMICVS ODOR APPETITV FORTIOR ·, an ass (France), about to feed upon a thistle (Scotland), is driven away by a rose (England) held by a female figure crouching left; in four lines in exergue, GALLI SCOTIAM AGGRESSVRI / SOLO ANGLORVM ASPEC= / TV FVGANTVR· / 1708·. Cf. MI 321/146; Eimer 428 (silver).

Good very fine.

From an old Swiss private collection formed before 1942.
