Biography
Olgierd Szlekys (born May 15, 1908 in Kalisz, died August 28, 1980 in Warsaw) was a Polish decorator, interior designer, caricaturist and painter. He graduated from the Artistic-Industrial Technical School in Leningrad, where he took a class in the furniture-making department. He studied at the Interior Design Department of the Poznan PSSZiPA and at the School of Fine Arts (today's Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts), also at the Interior Design Department. From 1935 he was a member of the ŁAD Artists' Cooperative, and after 1945 he became one of the first creators of the new style of interior and furniture design.
Wladyslaw Wincze (born April 1, 1905 in Odessa, died October 24, 1992) was a Polish interior designer. He graduated from the Warsaw University of Technology with a degree in interior design and from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in painting. He was a member of the ŁAD Artists' Cooperative from 1936, and ran a carpentry shop in Warsaw from 1940-1944. He was professionally affiliated with the Wroclaw State Academy of Fine Arts.
Together, Olgierd Szlekys and Władysław Wincze created the line of "Ład style", which became a classic of Polish design.
