Lot description
[TATRY]. Tatras. Tourist map. Color map form. 54.7x107.2 cm.
Map designed by Tadeusz Zwolinski and published by Ksiaznica-Atlas in Lviv and Warsaw in 1936. Titles and legends in upper corners. Publishing data in the lower margin. Scale 1:50,000. Seven-color, level-sky tourist map, with shading from the southwest in gray and drawing of rocks in brown. Compiled on the basis of the author's own field research. Provides content for both summer and winter (e.g., newly designated ski trails in 1935). The map represents the last word in the tourist cartography of the Tatra Mountains of the pre-war period, remaining up-to-date for a very long time, even after the war. It is distinguished by its excellent substantive level and excellent printing technique (based on the text of E. Szymkiewicz "Kartografia Tatrzańska T. Zwolińskiego" ("From the history of cartography", Wroclaw 1979, p. 132). Map cut into 30 parts glued together on canvas. Stains on the reverse, good condition.
