Nicholas Sanson active in the years (1600-1667) is considered the father of French cartography . During his career he created more than 300 maps.Sanson was born in Abbeville, Picardy. He made his first map at the age of twenty, a wall map of ancient Gaul. After moving to Paris, he came to the attention of Cardinal Richelieu, who introduced Sanson to King Louis XIII.The map's legend shows an improvement in the date from 1665 to 1675, done in pen, and an additional signature.
