Map of the Tatra Mountains prepared at the k. und k. Militär-geographischen Institute in Vienna, published by R. Lechner. Title on unprinted field above lower frame in center, scale there (1:25,000), linear scales, legend. In the lower right corner a side map "Übersicht des Tatra-Gebietes [...]". On the back a sticker cover sheet with the title: "Topographische Detailkarten. XII. Tatra-Gebiet. Im Masse 1:25,000 [...]". A large, striking and beautifully colored map of the High Tatras drawn on the basis of the latest Austrian measurements made in the Tatra Mountains in 1895-1897. The nomenclature was developed with the participation of Walery and Stanislaw Eljasz Radzikowski and Wladyslaw Kulczynski. In 1902, the Polish Tatra Society published a Polish version of this map, with an identical layout, but with Polish nomenclature for the entire area of the Tatra Mountains. Map cut into 40 parts glued together on linen. Metal hangings on the edges of the map underneath. Covers broch. rubbed and soiled, minor ink staining of map at left edge.
