Large-format, period-colored map of Turkestan, the name used in the 19th and early 20th centuries to describe the region encompassing part of Central Asia belonging to Russia. The map comes from the famous Hachette Publishing House'sAtlas of the World by Louis Vivien de Saint-Martin (1802-1896) and Franz Schrader (1844-1924). The edition whose map is the subject of the sale was devoted to territorial changes after the First World War and the formation of new states.
Piece well preserved, with a folding mark in the middle due to the large format of the map. On the lower scale at 66 deg. of geogr. longitude a small red stain; all glued on bristol; bdb. condition.
