During the Seven Years' War on October 22, 1761 there was a battle for Goleniow between Prussian troops (commanded by General von Platen) and Russian troops (commanded by Count Wilim Wilimowicz Fermor). The Russians captured Goleniow, but failed to destroy the Prussian troops.
