Roman Sielski - Polish and Ukrainian painter associated with Lviv. Initially studied in the drawing class of the Lviv School of Art and Industry under K. Sichulski. In 1922 he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (studied in the studios of J. Mehoffer and J. Pankiewicz). He then continued his studies in Paris. Member of the Association of Independent Ukrainian Artists. One of the co-founders and president of the avant-garde art group "artes". After World War II, he remained in Lviv, where from 1947 he was a lecturer at the Lviv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts. In 1982, he was awarded the title of Distinguished Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
