Biography
He was one of the most recognized mural and street art artists of the younger generation, whose artistic output has permanently enriched the space of many cities in Poland and around the world. He was the first Polish artist to have a solo exhibition at the prestigious London gallery of Steve Lazarides - Banksy's collaborator, curator and promoter.
Born in Bydgoszcz, he graduated from the Leon Wyczółkowski High School of Fine Arts in 2005, and then in 2010 received a diploma from the Faculty of Multimedia Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, specializing in animation. After graduation, he also worked there as an assistant.
Revered not only for his large-format painting, but also for his filmmaking, he has created three short films: Fugu (2008), Virus (2009) and Gallery (2010). The last of these brought him second prize at the Animocje Animated Film Festival in Bydgoszcz (2012) and the award for best animated film at the Curta Cinema International Short Film Festival in Rio de Janeiro (2011).
His works have been shown in dozens of group and solo exhibitions in Europe and the US. He gained international recognition almost immediately after graduation. In 2014, he was the first Polish artist to have a solo exhibition Land without Footprints at Lazarides Rathbone gallery in London. The series of 15 abstract acrylic paintings focused on the themes of digitized environments and human relationships. At the same time, his works could be seen at the Polish Urban Art exhibition at Spree Gallery in Berlin.
Robert Proch's work was distinguished by its unique dynamism and original style, combining elements of abstraction, geometry and figuration, which made him a permanent part of the history of Polish and world street art.
