Original drawing, book illustration design. Gabriel Rechowicz, alias "Gaber" (1920-2010), Polish graphic artist, interior decorator, book illustrator. He studied painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk (diploma 1952) and architecture at the Gdansk University of Technology. Specialized in painting, graphics, book illustration, posters (he illustrated books by Alina Afanasjew, Miroslaw Azembski, Jerzy Broszkiewicz, Wanda Chotomska, Jerzy Ficowski, Hanna Januszewska, Janusz Korczak, Joanna Kulmowa, Marta Tomaszewska, among others). Numerous exhibitions abroad. He often worked with his wife Hanna Rechowicz (b. 1926), creating murals and artistic compositions on facades and inside public buildings. Since the 1950s, the Rechowiczs have collaborated with many prominent Polish architects: Bohdan Pniewski, Jerzy Hryniewiecki, Jerzy Baumiller, Mieczyslaw Gliszczynski, Maria and Kazimierz Piechotka. They achieved success and recognition with their wall painting decorations made in the late 1950s and early 1960s in the cocktail bar of the Bristol Hotel, murals and mosaics in the Dom Chłopa hotel and monumental decorations in the interior of the Warsaw Supersam.
