Studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Defended his diploma in 1999 in the studio of Prof. Leszek Misiak. Currently a Doctor of Arts, leading the Drawing Studio at the Painting Department of his alma mater. He is the author of more than a dozen solo exhibitions and participant in dozens of group exhibitions. Winner of many awards, including the Grand Prix of the 35th "Bielska Jesień" Painting Competition (2001). He works in painting, drawing, sculpture and photography. The source of his artistic inspiration is the Bieszczady nature.

The watercolor was created especially for Odra. Rafal always supports environmentalists, because he himself, in his life and work being very close to nature, is very sensitive to the environment. The Vistula is the sister of the Oder, but thanks to the fact that it is much less regulated and wilder it handles pollution much better. Only a wild river will be clean.
