In 1993, he received a diploma in painting from the studio of Professor Jan Tarasin at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Before studying painting, the artist was fascinated by the world of plants, an excitement that lasted throughout his studies and for several years after graduation. Painted from nature, over time he brought plants to the stage of harmonious, abstract forms. The next stage was the counterpointing of realistic representations, through ornamental additions in the form of an abstracted, contoured element: a drawn animation of a study of movement, a single object from several points of view, and sometimes an herbarium-like depiction of a flower or leaf being the quiet return of plants to Sokolowski's canvases. He was able to masterfully use color by painting with two or three colors to achieve the effect of a fading photograph. Despite his untimely death, he managed to delight art critics and collectors. His works were exhibited at the Fibak Gallery and the Zachęta State Art Gallery in Warsaw, among others. Works are in collections in New York, Washington, Paris, Bremen, Zurich, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Oslo.
