Miguel Macaya (Santander 1964, lives and works in Barcelona) is a Spanish painter and sculptor. He received his degree in drawing, painting and sculpture in 1982.
Macaya's paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Marseille and Amsterdam, as well as at the Municipal Museum in Beranga, the Vila Casas Foundation in Barcelona, Casa de Vacas in Madrid, among others.
The artist's works are characterized by intense and dark expression, contrasting handling of light. The artist makes animals, the fights of the bullfighters a frequent subject of his paintings. One can recognize in them the influence of Francisco Goya's paintings.
