Łukasz Stokłosa (b. 1986) - Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 2010. He dedicated his diploma titled "Death and Desire" to the motif of St. Sebastian in culture. His first individual exhibition was "Winter Tale" (2011) at the Zderzak gallery in Krakow, where the paintings on display featured palace interiors, winter landscapes and portraits of movie stars, maintained in the artist's favorite climate of romanticism and decadence.
In 2013, Stokłosa received the Marshal's Award of the Lower Silesian Province, awarded in the Geppert Competition. In 2014, Stokłosa's paintings were included in an album by Kurt Beers, "100 Painters of Tomorrow," published by Thames&Hudson, London-New York, presenting a selection of the most promising contemporary male and female painters.
In 2015, Lukasz Stokłosa's works were presented at the exhibition "Artists from Krakow, generation 80-90″ at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow - MOCAK.
He cultivates figurative painting. He usually draws inspiration from mass culture, movies and TV series. He feels well in the aesthetics of camp. His interests revolve around history and the past, their contemporary interpretations and readings. Characteristic of his paintings are homoerotic paintings directly inspired by gay pornography. In the field of his interests, a special place is occupied by the art of old masters and mistresses, whose influence in his works, can be seen both at the level of approach to the matter of painting, composition, scale and in the textual layer. Stokłosa's paintings attract and repel, they have their second and third bottoms, just like film noir. He lives and works in Cracow.
