Karolina Jablonska is one of the most recognizable
artists of her generation, who has gradually and consistently established her
position. In her painting she combines the plastic freedom of art brut, neo-expressionist
aura and the art of modernists and feminists. The distinctive color range
enhances the dark eroticism of her paintings. The artist is a graduate of the Academy of Arts
Fine Arts in Cracow, where she studied in the studio of Prof. Leszek Misiak. When
in 2015 she defended her diploma in painting, her first steps on the arena of young Polish art
art were already behind her. While still a student, she was appreciated
by invitations to group exhibitions including "From Dusk Till Dawn" at the
Zderzak Gallery in Cracow. Currently represented by Raster Gallery.
She regularly participates in exhibitions at home and abroad, including Warsaw
Gallery Weekend, at Steve Turner Gallery, Los Angeles or at the NADA art fair
Miami.
She is a co-founder of Potencja gallery in Cracow. She received
Lower Silesia Capital Club award in the 12th Geppert Competition in 2016. W
2017, she was awarded the second prize of the Bielska Jesień biennale of painting. W
2019 she received an honorable mention in the Businesswoman of the Year competition of the Success Foundation
Written in Lipstick.
The artist's works in collections:
- ING Polish Art Foundation Collection, Warsaw, PL
- Collection of mBank
- Museum of Modern Art Warsaw
- National Museum in Gdansk
- The X Museum, Beijing
The artist has been at the top of the compass list for years.
Young Art-last year she took 2nd place. The work "Sleeping on the ground with a
phone in hand" has been presented at exhibitions including Raster gallery
or the Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw. Karolina Jabłońska is a
a graduate of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In her work
one can see a continuation of the formal assumptions of Neo-Expressionism - mainly
thanks to an expressive color palette, deformation and dynamic compositional arrangements.
One of Jabłońska's characteristic motifs are self-portraits - the artist
appears on her own canvases smeared with mud, toothless, with a lemon or a
a murderously disposed cat. She often reaches for mythological themes or
reinterprets classical compositions, but the main theme of her works
remain violent emotions. Jablonska is a co-founder of the Krakow-based
Potencja gallery (together with Tomasz Kręcicki and Cyril Polaczek). She lives and
works in Cracow.
