"The son of a Warsaw bicyclist, for many years he did not want to know about this fact, but blood and genes nevertheless made themselves known. Painter, graphic designer, Polish ska poet, lyricist, set designer, stage designer, performer, musician, publicist, "applied" artist, MC, member of the TerenNowy collective (the TERENNOWY collective is releasing an album in May and celebrating this fact on May 19 at WYPIEK KULTURY on Szwedzka Street) - a total artist, consistently off. He prefers to find himself in other times and therefore antidates his work. In the 1980s and 1990s he would go back 1,000 years. Today he would like to live in 214 AD. The 1970s were a time of learning and exploration that is, a time of compulsion to further education. Martial law was a time of regaining personal freedom, the birth of punk culture. In the 1980s, he was absorbed by the music revolution, or so-called alternative. As early as 1979, he writes lyrics for the group TNT. Later he collaborates with musicians from the 20th Century Catharines, White Intellectualiste, Mrs. Pinki's Cosmetics, Wańka Wstańka & The Ludojades, 1984, Balcan Electrique, Enchanted Pencil, Children in Shock. Often he was even a member of the band in this collaboration, building concert sets, realizing performances and happenings while playing, during which he burned, tore or otherwise destroyed decorations, and painted live. He built scenographies of large rock events such as Autumn Mokotowska, Poza Kontrolą, Rock Front, the first Zadymy. And, of course, Jarociny. In Jarocin he performed as a painter, musician, stage designer, illustrated Jarocin publications. Later he also performed himself when the avant-garde trained. In 1987-1989 he did set designs for the Polish Television music program "Non Stop Kolor". He designed album and cassette covers, posters, illustrated books, programs and other publications. He illustrated and graphically edited the cult, albeit "environmental" magazines "Non Stop", "Mać Pariadka", "Mała Ulicznica", "Ulica Wszystkich Świętych", "Czarny Krzyż", "A-Tak", "Alter", "Alter Ego", "Leń", "Rozbrat", "B 1", but also "Mój Świat", "Na Przełaj", "Sztandar Młodych", "Przegląd", for 10 years "Kalendarz Szalonego Małolata" (1983-2002). He is very eager to cooperate with theaters. In 1986 he made his first theatrical poster for the play "What time is it?" Z. Wojciechowski at the Dramatic Theater in Warsaw, and is also the author of numerous stage designs.
Krzysztof Skain May also has his commercial side. For the American company "Kids Play" he arranged, designed, built and decorated with paintings children's play centers in Warsaw and Gdansk. He does custom wall painting, interior design, paintings, graphics, logos, etc. In this way, he not only earns a living, but also beautifies our world by decorating relaxation and entertainment centers, clubs, restaurants, stores, kindergartens, swimming pools, residential interiors, private apartments. He has a ceramic studio at AMFORA, so artistic ceramics is no longer a stranger to him today. All the time he paints pictures on canvas and paper. He enjoys exhibiting in Poland and abroad.
His "black painting," which is no longer so black, was a reaction to the social and political evils of reality. He continued it with conviction until he realized that it somehow reinforced the "black magic" of the political world. Since that breakthrough, he renamed himself from Cain to Skain, began to paint more colorfully and cheerfully, changed the subject matter of his works and even the music he listened to - to ska and reggae, and, above all, took the side of "white magic." But nevertheless, he remains the same offbeat, anarchic punk and rude boy, how close he is to his biker father..." (cultus.org.pl)
