Between 1948 and 1954, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Zbigniew Pronaszko and Hanna Rudzka-Cybisowa, from whom he received his diploma. From 1955 he worked as an assistant to his supervisor, then - still working at his alma mater in the departments of Interior Design and Painting - he went through all levels of his academic career. In 1988 he received the title of professor. From 1987 to 1993 he was dean of the Faculty of Painting. He was actively involved in ZPAP. He is involved in painting and drawing, and is the author of a number of sacred and secular polychromies (the co-author of some of them is the artist's wife, Cecylia Wodnicka-Ząbkowska). He won first prizes in national art competitions on the occasion of the Olympics in 1956 and 1960. He showed his works in many individual exhibitions and participated in many collective exhibitions, such as the National Exhibition of Young Painting, Sculpture and Graphics, Sopot 1959 and 1963, "Exhibition of Painting in the 15th Anniversary of the Polish People's Republic", National Museum, Warsaw 1961, Festivals of Polish Contemporary Painting, Szczecin 1962, 1966, 1968, 1980, Symposia of the "Golden Grape", Zielona Gora 1963, 1965, 1969.
