Josef Presser (1906 - 1967) Born in Lublin to a Polish-Russian family of Jewish descent. He emigrated to the United States, where he received a scholarship at the prestigious Boston Museum of Fine Arts, studying painting under Philip Hale. In 1965 he became an honorary member of the Cercle Litteraire et Artistique in Brussels. Presser's works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Musem of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C., or the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence.
