Biography
Graduated from the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Since 1968 he has been exhibiting his works, among others in New York. Most of his paintings are constructed of rhombuses and rectangles. At the end of the 1960s, the artist gave his geometric constructions - three-dimensionality; pasted on surfaces, they form reliefs. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics in the studio of Aadam Marczyński. He received his diploma with honors in 1967. He is a full professor at his alma mater. He has had twenty solo exhibitions at home and abroad; participated in more than a hundred group exhibitions representing the geometric abstraction trend. Janusz Orbitowski's main objects of interest are space, light, movement and their mutual relations. Since 1970, relief has been an important means of expression for the painter. Janusz Orbitowski's paintings are in the collections of the National Museum in Cracow, Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, the Art Museum in Lodz and many private collections in Poland, France, Sweden. Germany and the United States.
