Biography
Born in Poznań in 1954. Studied at the Poznan State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the M. Abakanowicz University of Arts). Painter, interdisciplinary artist, professor of fine arts, educator, author of books on contemporary art and culture. His work is formally and thematically diverse. His most recent paintings are paintings about painting. Prof. Marta Smolinskaya dedicated an essay to them, "The corporeal mathematics of paintings: or a short story about Janusz Marciniak's continued reliance on painting." Marciniak's works can be found in the collections of the Signum Foundation, Gerhard Richter Archiv - Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the National Museum in Cracow, the National Museum in Poznan, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, the Museum of the History of Polish Jews Polin and private collections.
