Jacenty Wójcik (Lublin 1940 - Warsaw 2018) Polish abstract painter, conservator. In 1963-69 he studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Eugeniusz Eibisch, where he graduated in 1969. He practiced easel painting, mainly oil and mixed media, and printmaking. Wójcik's work is characterized by an emphasis on purely plastic issues, such as color, shape and division of the picture plane. He created compositions referring to the organic world, based on the geometrization of forms and their rhythmization. Also characteristic of the artist is the weaving of points into abstract compositions, which suggest to the viewer the form of the human eye. Shifting shapes often overlap and intermingle, giving the impression of fluid movement. Saturated, contrasting colors add an additional impression of variation. The focus on formal issues of the compositions, consisting of a series of colorful forms, suggests a kind of study of observation of movement. Wójcik's paintings also show exploration, exploring areas of abstraction, free transitions between organic and geometric forms. He used the experience of the Capists, Formists and Abstractionists, combining them in his works." Source Biogram - Żak Gallery
