an Nowak - creator of linocuts and drypoint prints, one of Silesia's best non-professional printmakers, was born in 1938 in Bogucice, in a family of miners. Since childhood he enjoyed drawing. From 1958 to 1959 he attended the art center at the art high school in Katowice. There, graphic arts classes were conducted by educator and linocut artist Stefan Suberlak, and under his guidance he learned the arcana of linocut and how to make prints. His works were presented at home and abroad, including in France and Germany. In 1989 he was authorized by the Minister of Culture and Art to practice as a visual artist.
The artist's works are displayed in the Silesian Museum in Katowice.
