Sculptor, painter, graphic artist, author of installations, stage designer, art theoretician, educator. His work focused on issues of space. In the series "Double Circles" (1962-1964 and 1967-1969), the convention of the painterly rectangle was broken - the paintings took the form of two circles juxtaposed vertically one on top of the other, covered with moved contrasting forms, thus creating a kind of inner, illusory space.
