Irena Dzisiewska- Zmarzlinska, Nocturne - nightscape with willows

Irena Dzisiewska-Zmarzlińska (1908 - 1996) is an artist associated with Poznań not only with her period of study at the local School of Decorative Arts, where she studied printmaking under Jan Wroniecki and Karol Mondral. As late as the 1930s, she continued her studies at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the painting studio of Wilhelm Kotarbinski, only to return to Poznań after the German occupation and settle here permanently. Associated with the local artistic community, she turned out to be not only a talented painter, but also an animator of artistic life in the city. The presented nocturne, which has a slightly oneiric character, surprises not only with its colors, but also with its expressive and surprising composition of space with a dynamic abbreviation allowing to show dewy, mysterious willows against the sky.
