Henryk Waniek (born March 4, 1942 in Oświęcim) - Polish painter, graphic artist, stage designer, publicist and writer. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Department of Graphics in Katowice. He was a member of the Oneiron group, active in the 1960s and 1970s, bringing together artists with interests in surrealism, philosophy and mysticism.
In 1976, he received a Kosciuszko Foundation scholarship in New York. Since 1980, he has lived in Brwinów near Warsaw. His artistic and literary work stems from his extensive interests in philosophy, religious studies and mystical literature.
In painting, Waniek refers to surrealism and symbolism, building compositions of a metaphysical nature, often inspired by alchemy, mythology and the history of Silesia. His works refer to geometry, mystical landscapes and archetypal symbols.
He is the author of many essays and novels, in which he combines historical reflection with his fascination with esotericism and metaphysics. His work has been presented at numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, and he has received numerous awards for artistic and literary achievements.
