Graduate of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk, he received his diploma in painting and graphics in 1977 in the studio of Kazimierz Ostrowski. He is a professor at his alma mater. In the early period of his work, he took up sacred themes. A frequent theme is the deformed human silhouette. His paintings from the 1980s, instead of titles, had numbers similar to those given in prisons or camps. All the images of people in the artist's paintings have eyes embedded in them, cut from illustrated magazines.
