oil, canvas, 130 x 200 cm
Signed and described in the lower right corner: "H. Cześnik 13.", inscribed at the top "City Bathhouse No. 74".
Cześnik's works are often large-format works, created on "recycled" materials - canvases and sheets of material joined together. The artist's visions are surreal, dark and turpid; many carefully composed scenes take place in hospitals or city baths, in Cześnik's version evoking associations with annihilation rather than improvement and regeneration. The dismembered bodies, hanging torsos, heads hanging from the corpses are an apocalyptic world; a world experiencing annihilation.
