Hutsul woman in folk costume in front of a hut, in sitting position. Wiped and soiled, frayed edges, edges uneven. Eugeniusz Stanisław Geppert (born 1890 in Lviv, died 1979 in Wrocław), Polish painter, representative of Colorism, organizer of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Jacek Malczewski and at the Jagiellonian University. He also educated in Paris. Before World War II, he belonged to the Zwornik group. In 1946 he settled in Wroclaw. He created wall and easel paintings. Co-founder and first rector of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. He served as rector of the school until 1950. He ran a studio of painting and painting in architecture. His wife was the painter Hanna Krzetuska-Geppert. 9220/6
