Artwork description:
Eugeniusz Geppert is considered one of the best Polish colorists. The artist is also known as the initiator of the creation of the School of Fine Arts in post-war Wroclaw.
In the painter's work, the motif of horse riders has repeatedly recurred. Eugeniusz Geppert liked to depict lancers and jockeys, among others. In the presented painting, he set the horse image in the reality of a crowded and multicolored parade. The work was done in a sketchy manner, it manifests a great knowledge of animal anatomy, processed, however, by the painter's individual artistic style. The composition is full of freedom, and the expressive but apt color patches contribute to its painterly quality.
